Best mesh Wi-Fi routers 2022: the best wireless mesh routers for large homes Whether you have a new house, an old house, or simply want the best Wi-Fi in your home, you need to make sure that you have the best wireless mesh routers for large homes. Fortunately, the technology has advanced to allow access points that connect wirelessly to one another and create seamless coverage throughout your home or office building so you can enjoy high speed internet without any dead spots.
ASUS RT-AC86U
Not only does this device have the coverage of a traditional router, it also has Wi-Fi extenders that can be used to add coverage. These extenders can be placed anywhere within the home and can support wireless bandwidths up to 2600 Mbps. Plus, the router includes a 4×4 antenna configuration with AiRadar beamforming for better multi-device performance.
This is particularly beneficial if you’re looking to stream large content or play games on multiple devices without buffering and slower speeds. There are also four Gigabit Ethernet ports which is perfect if you use Ethernet cables and do not want to rely on wireless connections, especially in HD streaming rooms or small offices. The RT-AC86U may cost more than other mesh routers but is well worth the investment.
NETGEAR Orbi RBK40
Netgear’s Orbi RBK40 wireless mesh router is a strong contender in the large-home wireless space. The Orbi RBK40 packs both a 2.4GHz and 5GHz AC1200 dual-band Wi-Fi system, and offers significant coverage with simultaneous dual band speeds of up to 1200 Mbps. With four Gigabit Ethernet ports and five customizable settings, this is one of the best mesh routers on the market.
While it lacks Bluetooth connectivity and Tri-Band compatibility, its predecessor RBK50 offered these features at the cost of increased price. For those looking for excellent performance without sacrificing too much when it comes to features, the NETGEAR Orbi RBK40 provides quality that few others can match.
In addition to offering solid range, the Orbi RBK40 also includes two 10/100/1000 LAN ports as well as USB 3.0 port – which makes this model perfect for any home or office setting. If you’re looking for even more range than what’s offered by the ORBI RBK40, then check out ASUS RT-AC3200 – which has a tri-band system that gives users access to all three bands simultaneously (5GHz: 800Mbps+1733Mbps+2133Mbps; 2.4GHz: 400Mbps+1733Mbps).
These top-of-the-line specs allow for incredible connection rates that far exceed the average 802.11ac standard, but there are downsides to consider before purchasing this product. First off, this model isn’t nearly as easy to set up as some other models on our list – so make sure you have some time before diving into installation. Second, while the RT-AC3200 does include an app that allows for installation from anywhere in your house, it doesn’t include Bluetooth connectivity like many other models do.
Finally, though not a problem for most users, some have noted signal issues where WiFi drops out completely during peak hours due to congestion from so many devices being connected to the network at once.
Linksys Velop AC3900
When deciding on a Wi-Fi router system, there are a few factors to consider: coverage range, access points required, and total network capacity. The Linksys Velop AC3900 offers the most expansive coverage of any mesh system we tested, making it well suited for large homes and buildings with multiple levels. You can also find the router on sale at many retailers now. If you’re not sure which is best for your home, keep reading our reviews below! Best Mesh Wi-Fi Router: Netgear Orbi RBK50 AC2200 (RBK50)
When looking for a router that would provide good performance in medium to large homes, the Netgear Orbi RBK50 AC2200 won us over with its simple setup process and strong wireless signal. While more expensive than some of its competitors, the RBK50 was designed with bigger spaces in mind, so if you live in an open floor plan or have larger than average house size this could be your best option.
Samsung Connect Home AC1200
Home to up to 50-meter wireless range, the Samsung Connect Home AC1200 mesh router can cover medium sized homes and spaces. Running on 2.4 GHz frequency, this wireless mesh Wi-Fi router offers download speeds of up to 1200 Mbps and upload speeds of 600 Mbps.
Compatible with Amazon Alexa, Samsung’s Connect Home Wi-Fi router can control connected devices using voice commands and control smart lights using a SmartThings hub. The sleek-looking white router weighs only 0.97 lbs (408 g) and has a display panel that shows basic network status and connection details as well as access to advanced Wi-Fi settings through a mobile app available for Android or iOS operating systems.
Google Wifi System (3 pack)
Check out Google Wi-Fi System, a home mesh network that makes it easy to provide strong and reliable Wi-Fi in every corner of your home. Its innovative mesh design offers plug-and-play setup and installation, as well as seamless roaming throughout your home. The Google Wifi System (3 pack) starts at $288! I recommend the three pack so you can cover all areas of your house with WiFi. These are perfect for large homes and offices with a lot of area to cover.
You can also purchase one unit which will cover up to 1,500 square feet but I do not recommend that unless you only have one room or space that needs WiFi coverage. If you have more than one room in need of WiFi coverage I recommend the three pack because it is much cheaper per unit than the single units plus you get more units overall which will cover a larger area than just one unit alone would be able to reach.
6 – 10 Mesh Wi-Fi systems to consider
Airtime has a strong reputation for quality and transparency. The Airtime system is designed to cover 10,000 sq ft, but the router supports up to 100,000 sq ft of coverage. This unit has 3 Gigabit Ethernet ports and one USB port on the back that allow you to connect additional hard drives or printers, plus it can connect wireless devices with WiFi capabilities. You can also use Airtime as a Wi-Fi extender without any additional hardware.
It’s an affordable mesh Wi-Fi option. Netgear Orbi Home Mesh WiFi System – RBK50 ($299) – A great all-around mesh solution which covers 5,000 square feet (give or take). It’s easy to set up and manage, but does require an extra adapter for each satellite unit. Google Wifi ($399) – Top notch home internet connection offers one wired Ethernet connection and two Gigabit Ethernet connections on the main hub (or $499 for three).
