Sony State of Play: The Next PlayStation Event and What to Expect

Sony State of Play: The Next PlayStation Event and What to Expect Sony’s E3 2015 press conference will take place on June 15th at 5pm PST. Here’s what you can expect from the show and how you can watch it live online.

When is the next Playstation event?

The next Playstation event is Sony’s State of Play, which will take place on September 24th at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET. You can expect to see updates on some of Sony’s biggest upcoming games, as well as new game announcements and trailers. Plus, with the recent release of the PS5 console, there’s sure to be some news about that as well. So mark your calendars and set your alarms, because it’s sure to be a event not to be missed!

It was only a few months ago that we saw Sony host its last big gaming showcase, Gamescom in Germany. Now, just three months later, it seems like we’re getting another one. This one being titled State of Play, an event already scheduled by Sony. It’s happening on September 24th at 9 AM PDT / 12 PM EDT / 5 PM BST and while no real information has been released yet, you know what they say: Where there’s smoke…there’s fire.

Let’s talk speculation then shall we? We’ll start with the more obvious question first. When exactly is this happening? Well, if it follows a similar format to previous events, such as E3 or Gamescom, it’ll most likely happen at 9 AM PDT/12 PM EDT/5PM BST time.

So if you live in America or Europe (or any other time zone for that matter), make sure to set your alarm clocks accordingly and come back for some epic video game coverage! And if you have absolutely nothing to do during the day of September 24th, I highly recommend tuning into Twitch TV for all the action! If you don’t have anything better to do, consider coming out here too. Who knows, maybe something amazing will happen that day.

Where will it be held?

The next Sony State of Play event will be held on Wednesday, May 27th at 4pm BST / 11am EDT / 8am PDT.

This event will be focused on providing updates and announcements for PlayStation’s first-party titles.

As for what to expect, there have been rumors that we may finally get a look at the long-awaited sequel to The Last of Us, as well as more information on Ghost of Tsushima. Additionally, Sony has said that there will be new game reveals, new content from PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios, and a host of other updates.

So mark your calendars and set your alarms, because this is sure to be a PlayStation event not to be missed.

Is there a new console in development or release date rumors?

Yes, there is a new console in development. It is codenamed the PlayStation 5, or PS5, and it is set to release in late 2020. The PS5 will be a big step up from the current generation of consoles, with new features and improved hardware. Some of the rumors surrounding the console include 4K resolution support, 8K resolution support, a new controller design, and backwards compatibility with PS4 games.

There have also been some speculation that the PS5 could allow for cross-platform play on different gaming systems. While Sony hasn’t released any information about the next PlayStation event, we can assume that there will be an announcement for the new console sometime soon! Keep your eyes peeled for more updates! Is there a new game being released?: Yes, Spyro Reignited Trilogy is set to release this September.

When was the last PlayStation event? August 20th was when they held their PlayStation State of Play live stream.

What happened at the last PlayStation event? In short, they discussed upcoming games like Control and Ghost of Tsushima as well as showing off titles such as Spider-Man, Kingdom Hearts 3, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, Jump Force, Devil May Cry 5 and many others.

Games unveiled at previous PSX events

At past PSX events, Sony has unveiled a number of highly-anticipated games. These include The Last of Us Part II, Death Stranding, and Ghost of Tsushima. We can expect similar big reveals at the next event. In addition, Sony often uses PSX to show off new gameplay footage and trailers for upcoming games.

So if you’re interested in what’s coming to PlayStation in the near future, be sure to tune in! A word on pre-orders: On the bright side, Sony typically offers up pre-order incentives for those who purchase early. And unlike Nintendo, they offer digital downloads as well as physical copies (though many people still prefer a physical copy).

The TL;DR: The next PlayStation event is likely happening this month (or in early 2020) and we should expect it to cover PS4 games only given that Sony made it clear at last year’s PSX that there are no plans for a 5G version of their console.

The next Sony State of Play event will take place on Thursday, May 9th at 3pm PT / 6pm ET. You can tune in live on the PlayStation Twitch channel or YouTube channel. We’ll update this post with the livestream link once it’s available! Sony has not announced what to expect from the next event yet but judging by last year’s show, we could see new game announcements for current platforms like PS4 Pro and PSVR as well as news about future projects like Death Stranding.

We also may see more VR content come out of PSVR headset creator Impulse Gear who demoed a previously unreleased game called Rigs: Mechanized Combat League back in 2016.

Aside from that, don’t be surprised if there are some surprises too! Last year’s State of Play had a few surprises up its sleeve when they announced release dates for two upcoming games Days Gone and Detroit: Become Human.

It was also during that event when they first revealed an upgraded version of their VR headset known as the PSVR CUH-ZVR2 which features HDR passthrough support among other upgrades. As such, you should be on the lookout for more exciting updates on both hardware and software during this next event.
