Best Running Headphones for 2022
How do you find the best running headphones? They need to be durable, of course, but they also have to be comfortable and they can’t slip off your head while you’re jogging down the street. Plus, they should sound great while protecting your ears from the wind noise of passing cars and other distractions on the street. And finally, they need to be reasonably priced so that you don’t have to break the bank to buy them! Here are 10 running headphones that fit all these criteria.
The most efficient way to select a pair of running headphones
You might find that you need to try out a few different options before you can get the right one. Thankfully, there are many of headphones on the market now, and more on the way. To find the best pair of running headphones for you, keep these things in mind:
*Do you want them to just sit around your neck or are they an over-the-ear design? *How much bass do you want or don’t want? *Do you want Bluetooth enabled or does your phone have an aux cable already? How important is sound quality vs.
battery life? There are so many factors when it comes to picking out the perfect set of running headphones! If you’re new to this game, I recommend trying a few pairs out at your local electronics store. Most will let you test them out with a demo video before purchase as well as offering some kind of warranty. If it’s not possible for you to go into the store, there are several websites that offer reviews and comparison charts which can help narrow down your selection.
My favorite is What Runners Want because they focus on runner’s needs first, but we all know Amazon has everything! The good news is that there are many options for every price point and type of runner. Whether you want something inexpensive with basic features or prefer something pricier with every bell and whistle imaginable (or both!), we can make sure you find the perfect fit. After all, finding the right gear makes any activity better–including running!
The best wireless options
#1- Panasonic ErgoFit RP-HJE120: One of the most cost-effective options is the Panasonic ErgoFit RP-HJE120 in-ear headphone. These inexpensive earbuds offer a number of features and are lightweight, comfortable and great for running. The non-slip ergonomic design includes a button controller with volume, play/pause and voice track control buttons which can be used to answer or reject calls, redial last call numbers or activate Siri or Google Assistant by long pressing the middle button.
The angled nozzle makes it easier to fit these earbuds comfortably into your ears even if you’re wearing eyeglasses as well as other benefits like easy portability and storage with an included case.
The best in-ear earbuds
Earbuds are an excellent option for runners, because they don’t have any dangling wires that could get in the way or get pulled. Bluetooth earbuds are good because they offer a more hands-free experience than their wired counterparts, but there is the downside of shorter battery life, and slower Bluetooth connection times. For these reasons, they’re not necessarily a good fit if you like to switch between listening to music and talking on the phone while you run.
However, wired earbuds generally provide better sound quality because they utilize bigger drivers which produce more volume. This can come in handy when listening to podcasts or audiobooks and allows you to enjoy your music without turning it up too high.
The best around-ear/on-ear options
If you’re looking for a lightweight pair of earbuds, the Jaybird RUN are the best option. They’re thin and come with a wide array of ear tips to fit any size, so they’ll stay snugly in your ears while you run. Plus, they charge up with a braided cable and an inductive charging mat that can juice them up in an hour–so they never need to be plugged in or taken off when it’s time to refuel.
While on-ear options are less likely to slip out during your run, they also tend to weigh down on your ears more–they’re thicker around the sides and press right against your ears rather than enclosing them like around-ear models do.
The downside is that this extra weight can make running uncomfortable if you don’t have good headband support. But if you have a tendency to push too hard and find yourself with sore muscles, these might be just what the doctor ordered. The Plantronics BackBeat FIT 300s are our pick for 2019: not only do they offer some much-needed cushioning for long runs, but their magnetic design makes it easy to store them around your neck when you take a break from your jog (and then snap back into place when it’s time to go).
Earbuds Under $100
You don’t have to break the bank in order to find a great pair of running headphones. For those on a budget, here are some great options for under $100: 1) JLab JBuds 2 Reflect Wired Earbuds; 2) JLab Epic Bluetooth Wireless Sports Earbuds; 3) Huawei TalkBand B5 (Bluetooth).
All three earbuds offer up a decent mix of sound quality and durability. But, you’ll want to try them out before you buy them. The wireless ones might not work with your phone if it doesn’t have Bluetooth capability. If you’re looking for something more high-end, check out our review of the Jaybird X3s.
These wired earbuds may cost a little more than other earbuds but they’re worth every penny! They stay put in your ears even when you start sweating from all that hard work and also come with interchangeable tips to ensure the best fit possible.
They come with their own carrying case which is always helpful when you’re traveling or just need an extra place to store them without risking losing them. Another plus is that they come in four different colors: blue, green, black and red. They also come with a one year warranty!
Earbuds Between $100-$200
The first set of headphones to review is the Mpow Cheetah. At around $80, these are an affordable choice that won’t break the bank, and still sound great. Mpow is a trustworthy brand when it comes to these sorts of products, so I have no doubt that this product will be an investment worth making. The sound is crisp and crystal clear without sounding too bass-heavy; they’re able to go as loud as you want without overdoing it, which could lead to damage to your hearing if you listen at really high volumes.
These earbuds also come with three different size ear tips and hooks to ensure that they fit comfortably in your ears without falling out or hurting. You can also customize the cord length by cutting it off with scissors or using an adjustable metal clip on one side of the cord if you prefer a shorter length.
MEE Audio Sport-Fi M6P Wireless: These wireless earbuds provide excellent quality audio with their flat, extended frequency response and their deep, accurate bass reproduction.
It’s hard to beat them for running purposes since there’s no wire getting in the way of your arm movements or becoming caught on anything while working out! They offer up to 8 hours of continuous playback on a single charge but take about 2 hours to fully charge from dead battery status.
Earbuds Above $300
The Bose SoundSport Free is a great set of earbuds, but they’re also some of the priciest. For less money, we recommend trying out the Bose QuietControl 30, a pair of noise-cancelling wireless in-ear buds that are comfortable and have great sound quality. They’re not quite as sweatproof as the SoundSport Free or have interchangeable ear tips, but they do have a cable management clip and come with two cords to help extend battery life.
It’s important to note that these earbuds won’t block out external noise like over-ear headphones will so you’ll need to use them in conjunction with something else if you want total sound protection while running outdoors. Still, they make up for this by being waterproof and having a good range.
They charge via USB Type-C, which means you can plug them into any USB port – such as your laptop – rather than relying on carrying around a bulky charger brick. These earbuds cost about $180 on Amazon and offer nine hours of playback time per charge.
